Sony NWZ-W260 Sports Walkman has an MP3 player built into its headphones

Posted by Japrax on Friday, July 15, 2011

If you're looking for a pair of headphones and an MP3 player to accompany you during your workouts at the gym, then perhaps Sony's latest offering of the water-resistant Sony NWZ-W260 Sports Walkman might be something you could check out. What makes this so unique over other "sporty" headphones is that it does away with the need for a separate MP3 player as the player is built into the headphones itself. So for some of us who rather not have an iPod or Zune bouncing away in our pockets while we run, this will be a great alternative.

Transferring songs to the player seems to be relatively easy and files can be dragged and dropped into the player, and will support synching with iTunes or the PlayStation 3. Featuring 8 hours of battery life, the player also comes with a quick charging technology that Sony claims will bring it back up to an hour's capacity within three minutes of charging.

It's also water resistant which is great when sweat is pouring down your face, and Sony thinks that it should be able to survive a shower as well, although we're not sure why we would bring a pair of headphones into the shower with us. The headphone/MP3 player combo will go on sale next month, with the 2GB version (NWZ-W262) fetching a price of $59.99, while the 4GB version (NWZ-W263) will go for $79.99.

Upcoming 3G iPod Touch

Posted by Japrax on Tuesday, July 12, 2011

Word has it that Apple will launch the next generation of iPod touch with 3G data connectivity later this year. This 3G data connectivity allows iPod users to make VoIP voice and video calls via Skype, connect to social networks, and play online games. Sadly, there is no official confirmation from Apple so far. Stay tuned for more updates. [TechRadar]

The next iPod Touch to come with 3G connectivity?

Posted by Japrax

In the wake of the abundant news about the iPhone 5x4GS some questionable news has surfaces regarding the iPhone's little brother, the iPod Touch. According to Applespot.Nl, the next generation iPod Touch will gain 3G connectivity.

"This will be as his work as the iPhone, where you have a 3G subscription from your ISP, then the SIM card into your iPod Touch key. The choice to add to 3G iPod Touch lineup is not even a very bad idea from Apple, it was obviously true. The only question is how this is received by the telecom farmers, since the use of Skype then will shoot up considerably."

Now the BS bells are ringing pretty loudly with this one. Why would users shell out all that money for an iPhone when they could just get an iPod Touch cheaper and with no real contract obligations? After all, at half the price, users get essentially the same experience with a iPod Touch 3G, albeit without annoying SMS Spam.

For now, we call shenanigans on this one, but who knows? Would you like to see a iPod Touch 3G?

Next iPod Touch to have 3G-capabilities?

Posted by Japrax

If Apple has plans to blur the lines between its iDevices - especially the iPhone and iPod Touch, this next rumor might turn out to be true. According to AppleSpot.nl, a Dutch tech site, there are rumors about the next iPod Touch being able to support the usage of 3G SIM cards. The iPod Touch is said to work just like the iPad carrying a SIM card - like a data-only iPhone.

Now we know it's a pretty farfetched rumor, considering if Apple pulls it off, there will be even less reasons for people to buy an iPhone over the iPod Touch, considering how it's possible to rely 100% on data nowadays. Users can make calls through Skype, send texts through apps like TextFree, and it would probably be cheaper than having a monthly bill for regular phone service.

There are no sources to back up the rumor of the site, but it leads to an interesting question for us to mull over - do you could survive in today's world with just a data plan on your mobile device?
