Loop Nano Watchband for Apple iPod nano Review

Posted by Japrax on Monday, December 5, 2011

There are a lot of watchbands for the iPod nano on the market, and a lot of them seem a bit big and sporty to me.  The Loop Nano watchband is sleek and looks more like a regular watchband.  It works with both the 6th and 7th generation of the Apple iPod nano. Let's give it a closer look.

Some of the photos in this review can be clicked for an enlarged view.

The Loop Nano watchband started out as a Kickstarter project. It was successfully funded, and the watchbands are now available for sale.  They are available singly in black, white, red, pink, green, and blue.  You can see I received the white band.  You can also buy them in discounted, themed sets with names like Newspaper with black, white, and red watchbands, get it?

The watchband is a single piece of silicone with a stainless steel clasp.  There's a cutout for the nano's clip to attach through.   You can see there's a ridge along the edges of the band to keep some air between your skin and the silicone band.  This helps keep your arm from getting so sweaty under the band.  When the nano is in place, the clip fits flush into the back of the band.  This keeps the metal clip from scratching your arm, but the clip is not protected from sweat.

The Loop Nano watchband is smaller than many of the other nano watchbands I've seen.  It's just over 9″ long, including the buckle, and it's about 1-3x8″ wide.  It's only about 3x8″ thick, so it will be as discreet as a watch this size can be.  It can be adjusted to fit a wrist about 5″ to 8″.

There are silicon “ramps” that slope up to cover the metal sides of the nano.  The power and volume buttons on the top and the headphone jack and docking connector are exposed for easy access.

My daughter Rachel modeled the watch for us.  She has a small wrist, but she found the watchband comfortable to wear.  You can see she ran the headphone cord up her sleeve so that the cord isn't flopping around or getting jerked from her ears whenever she moves her arm.  Because the nano's display can be rotated, it was easy to insert the iPod into the Loop band so the headphone jack is closest to her shoulder.

I think the Loop Nano watchband would be a good gift for the person who wants to use their iPod nano as their watch, even while they are at work.  It will keep your nano at the ready for listening to music, too, without looking like you rode your ATV to work – not that there's anything wrong with that.

beyzacases Nano Band turn your iPod Nano into a classy watch

Posted by Japrax on Saturday, June 25, 2011

Ever since Apple released the latest iPod Nano last year, manufacturers everywhere started coming up with their own wrist straps to turn iPod Nano players into watches. While they all serve a similar purpose, it's what they look like that sets them apart. beyzacases has just introduced the brand new Nano Band wrist strap that just oozes with class. When attached to your iPod Nano, it makes it look like some fancy store-bought watch.

The Nano Band is made from genuine leather, is easy to attach to the iPod Nano and can be worn on any size wrist. It doesn't get in the way of the player's controls, and fastens just like a traditional watch. If you're looking for any extra features you won't find them here. No word on how much these babies will cost but we don't expect anything too cheap, considering they're part of beyzacases' exclusive collection.

App-Enhanced Clock Radio for iPhone/iPod from iLive

Posted by Japrax on Wednesday, June 15, 2011

This app-enhanced clock-radio from iLive incorporates your iPhone/iPod like no other that I've seen before. Without an iOS device on the dock (bottom left), it looks a bit funny because the 12 has been replaced with a digital display. Plug the iOS device in, and there's no way to tell the time (bottom right) - unless you're running the free ICP391 app from the iTunes app store. With the app, you've converted the iLive into an “analog” clock. You can wake to music from your iPhone/iPod, radio, or a buzzer. There are 10 radio pre-sets and a remote. The iLive ICP391B will charge your iPhone/iPod. List price is $49.99, but you can find it cheaper at various online retailers like Amazon, HSN, Buy.com, etc.

Quad Mountain Ultimate One Nano Watchband

Posted by Japrax on Tuesday, June 7, 2011

The Quad Mountain Ultimate One nano watchband distinguishes itself by being the only one on the market where no part of the nano touches your skin. This protects your nano from sweat damage, which won't be covered under the warranty. The band is thin and vented where possible for comfort. The nano's controls are all available, and the sides are protected. You'll be able to use the nano with a mini Bluetooth dongle and earphones or with regular earbuds. The Ultimate One is available in black, white, blue, green, orange, pink, and red for $24.95 each. A two-pack pairing one colored band of your choice with a black band is $41.95. They are available directly from Quad Mountain.

ZShock diamond Lunatik iPod nano watch wrists-on!

Posted by Japrax on Saturday, May 7, 2011

We're big fans of ZShock and its work, so when the company decided it was going to do what it does best on a Lunatik iPod nano watch case, we had to get our hands - and wrists - on one. It takes ZShock around 3-4 weeks to create and carefully hand-set the diamonds into pave settings on the white goldwatch case. The craftsmanship on here is amazing, and just what you'd expect from one of the most innovative jewelers around. The all- diamond ZShock Lunatik iPod nano watch retails for around $18,000, though custom orders with different metals and even different diamonds and stones are possible from www.zshock.com. Make sure to check out some photos of the diamond Lunatik iPod nano watch gadget in our hands on gallery!

Diamond-encrusted Lunatik iPod nano watch is as superfluous as it sounds

Posted by Japrax

If you're the type of person who has 99 problems, a satisfactory wristwatch being one, feast your lustful eyes on this diamond-encrusted abomination. ZShock has managed to work its magic - $18,000 worth, to be precise - on a Lunatik iPod nano watch, with the end result being something that we'd hardly recommend being caught dead with. Of course, those who'd disagree vehemently are going to need a magic number in order to procure one, but those who are just curious can peek the source link below for a bit of wrist-on action. Temper that jealously, though.
